Social Media: The New Frontier for Advocacy

June 16, 2018

Hi everyone! The past few weeks at DOW has been very busy! As a Digital Storytelling and Social Media intern I have been researching ways to engage an audience with our website and social media. I always viewed the internet as a way to for people to connect no matter the distance. With technology, the world can literally be at your fingertips.

However, not everyone is fortune enough to have access to the internet. This is why it’s so important that we, as DOW, use our platform to advocate for the students in ESwatini. We also use our social media accounts to share the organization's mission.

I am currently working on a case study involving other organizations and my research is giving me tons of inspiration for revamping our website and social media. Other than that, I am in the process of coming up with an advocacy toolkit that I will be sharing with all of you. Between researching for both assignments and collaborating with Sam to create an official Social Media Engagement Strategy, things have been very busy. But I know it will be well worth it!
